North Dakota Dependent Tuition Waiver
Eligible dependents of certain disabled veterans can obtain a bachelors degree or certificate of completion free of tuition and fee charges at any North Dakota state-supported institution of higher education or technical or vocational school.
The student must be the dependent of a resident veteran who is 100% disabled as a result of service-connected causes, who was killed in action or died from wounds or other service-connected causes, or who died from service-connected disabilities.
The diploma must be earned within a 45-month or 10-semester period or its equivalent.

Can Veterans With Schedular 100% Va Disability Ratings Work
If a veteran has a schedular 100 percent disability rating for one or more service-connected conditions, they are fully entitled to continue working. However, veterans should keep in mind that the VASRD is based on average impairment to earning capacity. This means that a veterans ability to work is one of the factors VA considers when trying to determine whether there has been an actual material improvement to a service-connected condition.

How To Receive A 100 Percent Disability Rating
To have the best chance of receiving a 100 percent disability rating, you must convince the VA of the severity of your condition.
The more persuasive evidence and supporting documentation you submit, the stronger you can make this case. The best types of evidence to include with your appeal are, among others, medical records, personal statements from your doctor, lab test results and statements from yourself, your family, friends, manager or co-workers.
Equally important is showing youre receiving regular medical care for your condition. If you have not been to the doctor in six months or a year, the VA may find it hard to believe your condition is severe enough to warrant a 100 percent rating.

If youre the surviving spouse of a Veteran whose pay grade was E-3, your monthly rate would start at $1,562.74.
Then for each additional benefit you qualify for, you would add or adjust your monthly rate using the Added or increased amounts table.

Applying For Tdiu Benefits
VA Form 21-8940, Veterans Application for Increased Compensation Based on Unemployability, is an application for TDIU benefits. The purpose of this form is to provide VA with additional information about the veteran, such as their level of education and employment history, to supplement the request for TDIU. If veterans do not submit Form 8940 along with their claim for TDIU, it is almost guaranteed that VA will ask them to provide one. If veterans fail to submit the form, VA could use that as grounds to deny their claims.
What Does A 100% Va Rating Mean
A 100% or total VA rating means you receive the VAs highest rating for a service-connected condition on the Schedule of Ratings. In other words, this rating means that you are disabled at the highest level related to your disability. And therefore, you get the most benefit available within the rating schedule.
A 100% rating is not easy to receive for a single disability, so if you have 100% it likely means that the condition youre experiencing is severe. But you also can receive a combined rating of 100% for multiple disabilities.
Despite the difficulty of receiving a 100% rating, more than a million veterans rated at this level in 2021.
Total ratings are not automatically permanent. The VA can reduce a 100% rating if they can prove that your condition has shown material improvement, which means that there has been a significant change in your ability to function in daily life. Therefore, 100% ratings require ongoing follow-up medical appointments, and the VA can lower a rating.

What Happens If Im Receiving Sbp Or Rcsbp Payments And Then I Qualify For Dic Before The Elimination Of The Sbp/dic Offset
Before the elimination of the offset in 2023, if the DFAS pays you more than the offset amount of SBP or RCSBP payments after you begin receiving DIC payments, theyll consider this amount an overpayment. This means youll have to pay the money back.
To avoid owing money, be sure to notify the DFAS as soon as you qualify for DIC. Youll need to send them a copy of your VA DIC award letter. The DFAS will determine if they need to reduce your SBP or RCSBP payment amount.

How Do You Know If Your Rating Is Permanent

The IRS doesnt require you to declare your VA disability as part of your gross income when filing your previous years federal tax return. You dont need to include any documentation with your taxes to prove that your disability pay is tax-free.
