Need Help Completing Your Snap Application

NYS OTDA Emergency Rental Assistance Program

After your application is filed, the local department of social services or SNAP office will review your information and determine your household’s eligibility for SNAP. The department of social services will contact you if they need anything more than your application to determine your eligibility for SNAP benefits.

Note: If you qualify for SNAP, you must receive them no later than 30 days from the date the local district received your application.

The applicant will need to sign the application form and associated certifications agreeing that the information provided in the application is accurate.

    Beginning January 3, 2023, an Emergency benefit is scheduled to be available for households who have exhausted their Regular HEAP benefit and who are in a heat or heat-related energy emergency, as defined by HEAP, and who meet the eligibility guidelines for Emergency benefit assistance.

OAH will attempt to call you on the date of your scheduled hearing, between 9AM and 1PM, if your hearing was scheduled in the morning, or between 1PM and 5PM, if your hearing was scheduled in the afternoon. Residents of these communities may be eligible for assistance from the state-administered Emergency Rental Assistance Program if their locally-administered program spends all of its money.
