Understanding The Types Of Services
Your needs for long-term services and supports will often change over time. For example, early on you may need help once in awhile for a few Activities of daily living. You may choose to get that help in your own home. Over time, you may need more regular help and choose to live in a Licensed facility or other Long-term care setting. Whatever your needs, more and more options are available for care in homes, communities and facilities.
Aging Disability & Veterans Services Services
Oregon Medicare Savings Connect can help with: Medicare Part B and D premiums, co-pays and deductibles, prescription costs. Services are free, confidential, and language interpretation is available.
Free effective and dedicated representation for Veterans and their families. Receive all state and federal benefits available.
Adult Protective Services investigates allegations of abuse, self-neglect and financial exploitation of seniors and people with disabilities.
Services that help unpaid caregivers caring for someone age 60 or older. Assistance is also available to seniors who are raising a child.

Older Adult Behavioral Health
In 2015, the Oregon health Authority launched the Older Adult Behavioral Initiative after a statewide assessment found that the infrastructure of services, supports, and resources available for older adults and people with disabilities were greatly lacking.
The goals of this initiative are to:
- Increase availability and access to services and supports for older adults and people with disabilities
- Promote multi-system collaboration and coordination between multiple agencies
- Provide community-wide education to professionals to enhance the capacity of Oregon communities to support the needs of older adults and people with disabilities
The initiative relies on Older Adult Behavioral Specialists located throughout the state to achieve these goals.
The OABHS is responsible for collaboration & coordination, complex case consultation, and workforce & community education related to services for older adults and people with disabilities.
In collaboration with local partners, the OABHS assesses community needs, identifies gaps in services, eliminates barriers, promotes best practices and evidence-based approaches, provides information and training, and maintains information on area resources for older adults.

Other Resources And Supports
- Alzheimers disease and other forms of dementia affect people in different ways. However, all involve memory loss, challenges in planning or solving problems, and difficulty in completing familiar tasks. Services for those touched by dementia include learning about the disease, help in the home and support for family caregivers. Many community services can often be helpful for people to stay safe and as independent as possible.
- Caregiver support programs help those who provide support to a family member or friend. Services include education, community support groups and in-home help. Respite services give caregivers a break from their role.
- Legal assistance can be critical to planning for and solving problems with Long-term Services and Supports. Oregon private and Legal Aid attorneys can help you establish your legal rights, interests and care choices. Lawyers can also address care-related problems examples are helping someone whose public benefits have been denied or who has landlord or utility issues.
- Preventing elder abuse includes keeping it from happening in the first place. It also means keeping it from continuing. Immediately contact Adult Protective Services or law enforcement if you suspect elder abuse.

Disability Aging And Veteran Services
We provide programs and services to maintain and enhance the quality of life to assure that basic needs are met for Washington County seniors, veterans and people with disabilities. Most of our programs serve those ages 60 and over, while our veterans program and benefits enrollment center serve all ages.
We provide support for family caregivers, assist with Medicare, connect people with limited income and resources to key benefits, and provide short-term intervention to help isolated seniors navigate and access services.
We also serve those who need in-home assistance in order for them to stay in their homes, as well as helping people make decisions about long-term care. We provide free advice and assistance for Washington County veterans and their family members to obtain all the benefits and services they are entitled to under the law.

The Aging and Disability Resource Connection, or ADRC, is a free service that offers the public a single source for information and assistance on issues affecting older people, people with disabilities, and their caregivers, regardless of their income.
